Ok.... So I was a little bored today. I decided to slap together a cool photo slide show of some pictures I took in Gladwin County, Michigan. Well... I took all but 2 of the photos. I can't take credit for the deer or the geese photos... but the rest are mine. Enjoy!

Butman Township Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Greg Polluck and Captain Robert Shouse are in the water with one of two gentlemen who fell through the ice last week at Lake Lancer's Butman Township Boat Launch. After the first man fell through the ice while dragging a shanty, a second man fell through while trying to rescue him. The incident was witnessed by Asst. Chief Polluck, who radioed for back-up. Chief Jim Baker, and Rich Deyarmond, who was passing by, manned the rope to pull the men to safety.

Chief Baker would like to remind fishermen to always fish with a partner, and that the township does not monitor ice safety. "There is no such thing as safe ice", Baker said.

More snowy and fun pictures at the Chalet

It was snowing today. I took some more photos at the Chalet of the snow and the kids playing in it. It was so pretty. Still is!

I'm looking out the window right now and it's snowing hard. I wonder how much more snow we will get tonight.

Snow, Snow and More Snow!

Winter is here! Here are some pictures I took at the Chalet this morning. The kids and I are staying here for the weekend while Jim is up at Fletchers Pond ice fishing with some of his friends from EMS. I couldn't resist going out this morning with my camera to take pictures of the beautiful snow. I wish I would have taken some photos the other day before I shoveled all the snow off of the deck.

Look at all of the ice hanging off the overhangs. I tried breaking some of them off... but they're on there.

Here is a picture of the creek that runs between our lots. It's pretty in the snow. The photo doesn't do it any justice. Imagine the sound of running water in the background as it flows over a small waterfall. That's what it sounds like here. We have a mini waterfall in this creek, but it's not in this photo.

I took a picture of the propane tank, because you can get a better idea of the actual snow sitting on the ground, by looking at it.

Silly Kids!

Last night, Heather invited her friend Rosa over for a sleep over at our Chalet at the lake. Here they are being silly.
Friends forever!

And here is Ryan being goofy as usual! What a HAM!

Toothless wonder! Ryan lost ANOTHER tooth. Now he has a big gap in front. Isn't he cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!?!

Winter is HERE!

We are getting SNOW! The kids have been out sleding and playing for about an hour and a half now. The snow is still coming down but from the radar picture, it looks like it will stop soon.

Winter or Spring?

Is it really Winter? It's hard to believe that it's the beginning of January!

The picture below was taken on January 3rd.

NO ICE! NONE! NOTHING! ZIP! ZILTCH! NOT'A!

This picture was taken at a private park on Wixom Lake/Tobacco River just a couple days ago. It looks like this on every lake in the area! I've never seen the lakes like this in January, before. Christmas weekend 2005, my husband and I were riding our snowmobiles across Lake Lancelot in Sugar Springs! Not this year!

Today, while showing a home on Elbow Lake in NE Clare County, I saw a frog jump into the lake and hide under some fallen leaves at the bottom of the lake. Go figure! Frogs in January!

January 19th marks the first day of Tip-Up Town USA in Houghton Lake! No Ice means No Ice Fishing! They might be out there fishing from boats this year! The show must go on!!!

I saw two people out on Budd Lake today fishing from their bass boat.

If you've been holding off on looking at waterfront cottages until spring, because you didn't think you'd be able to see what the lakes were like... you might want to change your plans. You can see the lakes just fine! Unless we get a good cold snap, the lakes will probably stay this way for a while.

The Violin

I stand corrected. This is not the same violin that my Dad was playing in the old Christmas photo. He says that he got the violin that I have, in the 50's.
